Covid-19 Info

UPDATE: Reopening for Students!

I’m rethinking my previous post… maybe 13 is actually a lucky number and I don’t need to be superstitious at all! Our doors have been shuttered for 13 weeks but we are very excited to report that we will be reopening for students on Monday, June 15th! We still do not know when we will be permitted by the governor to open for guest services but we are thrilled that we will be seeing our students next week. Please see our separate post for our Health and Safety Plan.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

I’ve never considered myself a superstitious person but then Friday the 13th happened! On Friday, March 13th, Governor Wolf closed our school because we were in the epicenter of Pennsylvania’s pandemic outbreak… Montgomery County. At the time it was supposed to be a two-week closure. We are now in week 12!

What we have been up to….

  • The physical building has been closed during the stay-at-home-order so we changed the phone message to ask everyone not to leave messages but to contact us through our website or to email admissions@tspacollegeville.com.
  • The Pennsylvania Board of Cosmetology made an emergency change to their rules to allow us to provide temporary distance learning to our students shortly after we were closed.
  • We began online learning on March 31st. Our educators and students did a remarkable job at adapting! We have even had some new students start during this time and we have had a few graduations!
  • Interested in a tour? We have a virtual tour prepared to show you around our beautiful academy! You do not have to put your dreams on hold during this time! You can tour, enroll and start classes while we wait for the building to reopen! Simply email us at admissions@tspacollegeville.com or text us at 610-557-3790 to get started!
  • When we reopen, we will be following recommendations from the CDC, Pennsylvania and our franchise in order to keep students, staff, and guests safe and comfortable. Watch the website for the new guidelines as that time approaches.
  • We are not scheduling appointments now because we still have no idea when we are going to be able to have anyone in the building. We will update the website and social media to let you know when we will be available to start manning the phones and we will do our best to accommodate you as soon as possible!

We miss being with our students in the building and we miss our guests! While we are doing our best, it is not the same and we can’t wait to be together again!

We hope you are safe and healthy! Thank you for the continued support!

What to Expect on a Beauty School Tour

You’ve decided you want to pursue an education in beauty. Congratulations! Now that you know you’re interested, the first step is to schedule a tour with us at The Salon Professional Academy (TSPA), Collegeville. The tour can be a key part of the process, as you get to meet staff at the school, see the campus, watch students at work, and ask any questions you might have.

What Can I Expect on the Tour?

When you first visit us, bring a parent, friend, or another family member with you. This is a big move for your future, and it’s good to have a support system. After arriving, you’ll meet with a staff member who will serve as your tour guide. On the tour, you’ll get to see classrooms, break rooms, manicure/pedicure rooms, and more. You’ll be introduced to more members of school’s staff and also see students in the classroom or working in the student salon training area. Some students might even be working on actual clients.

What Questions Should I Ask?

During the tour, you’re going to receive a lot of information. It’s likely that you’ll have a lot of questions as a result of this. Now is the perfect time to ask all your questions so you can feel clear and confident in your decision to attend our school.

Good questions to ask during your tour are:

  • Is the school accredited?
  • How much does the program cost?
  • Do you offer forms of financial assistance?
  • How long does the program take to complete?
  • What skills and techniques will I learn?
  • What equipment do I need?
  • Who will be teaching me?
  • How is the program structured?
  • Will I be able to practice on models and other students?
  • Can you help me find work after graduation?

Make It an Interview

The tour is a great time for you to learn about us, but it’s also an excellent opportunity for us to learn about you. As you would with any job interview, you should dress to impress, arrive on time, and pay attention throughout the tour. Another tip is to remember to just be yourself. If you’re passionate about a career in cosmetology, esthetics, or nail tech, it will show through during the tour. We want to admit passionate, dedicated students to TSPA Collegeville, so make sure to let your personality shine through!

A Beautiful New Year: Beauty School 2018

With every new year comes resolutions. While a few on your list might be centered around new exercise regimens or recycling, they don’t all have to be your run-of-the-mill goals.

New Year’s resolutions are about improvement, and that can include an improvement to your education. Invest in yourself and your future with a beauty school education! Here are a few reasons why you should consider starting a cosmetology, esthetics, or nail technology program at the start of the new year.

Because There’s No Better Time Than Now

woman with clock

It’s easy to put things off, and it eventually becomes a habit. Don’t let your dreams be put off by “maybes” and “it doesn’t feel like the right time” the right time is now! Here at The Salon Professional Academy(TSPA), Collegeville, we are here to help you see the future and map it out. We can sit down with you and take a look at your schedule, and see how we can make education a reality this new year.

New year check off list

Believe it or not, you can plan for your future. You don’t have to juggle all of life’s lemons at random. Be prepared! We know what you’re thinking, “It’s hard to fit education into life as an adult!”. You should know that beauty school isn’t like traditional college degree programs. You shouldn’t expect to spend four years in boring classrooms and lecture halls.

Here is how long you might expect to be in a program at TSPA Collegeville:

Cosmetology:

Full Time = 40 Weeks

Half-Time = 76 Weeks

Nail Technology:

Full Time = 6.75 Weeks

Half-Time = 12.75 Weeks

Esthetics:

Full Time = 10.25 Weeks

Half-Time = 19 Weeks

Because Creativity Knows No Bounds (or Timeframes!)

Woman doing hair

You don’t have to settle for a boring nine to five job. Take the leap! Pursue your passion, let your creativity take hold, and get ready to love what you do! If the beauty industry is truly where your dreams lie, there’s no better way than to chase your dreams than beauty school in the new year.

We are dedicated to each of our students, no matter their journey. TSPA Collegeville – 2017 SPEC Rising Star Winner!

As a member of the Salon Professional Education Company(SPEC) family we are part of a network of schools that work to achieve a higher standard. Within that network are over forty beauty schools all with the same goal: to build the next generation of beauty professional. To help us achieve this goal, the SPEC network holds an annual conference full of trainings, announcements, and awards.

We are proud to announce that this year The Salon Professional Academy(TSPA), Collegeville was awarded the Rising Star Award.

Honoring schools who have met or exceeded expectation in their inaugural year, the Rising Star Award is given to one school who has set a high standard and found success.

As the 2017 award winners, TSPA Collegeville has done just that.

Roseann and Jennifer from TSPA Collegeville accepting award

Turning Obstacles Into Successes

One of the many qualities of a successful TSPA franchise school is the ability to take trials and rise above them, turning them into successes. By taking advantage of many of the available systems and service partnerships that SPEC provides to their schools, TSPA Collegeville found that success. Focusing on mastering enrollment and student relation skills, they have shown a great dedication to their students education and to their future successes.

In addition to taking advantage of the systems and services the SPEC network offers, the owners of TSPA Collegeville focused on developing healthy networking relationships with local businesses and salons. This not only helps them to deliver an education in line with today’s industry, but assist their graduates to find placements shortly after licensing.

Staying Student Focused

Roseann and Jennifer accepting award

Due partly to their dedication to growth and education, the educators and owners at TSPA Collegeville have built a school that is focused on the students, their success and on their future.

This dedication has led them to enroll an amazing 52 students in their first year. Not only that but they added additional programs to help support students in building a well-rounded career. By adding programs like Esthetics and Nail Technology they have been able to give their students the ability to build an impressive portfolio.

Going beyond the programs they offer, their commitment is also seen in the educators they hire and the trainings they participate in. Giving their students access to accomplished professionals that not only support the students in their education, but support each other in their careers, is one of the cornerstones of an education at TSPA Collegeville.

Jenn and Roseann, the owners of TSPA Collegeville, know the importance of these relationships and that the support you find in your beauty school experience goes beyond school. After all, when you enroll at TSPA Collegeville you are more than a student, you are family.
