  • Roseann Hawley - Co-Owner

Roseann Hawley has been a licensed cosmetologist and stylist since 1994. She began her career as the manager of a salon while also providing services to guests. She quickly realized that she wanted a more fast-paced salon where she could gain more experience. So, Ms. Hawley moved to a new salon where she quickly became manager and stayed for twelve years.
In 2007, Ms. Hawley made the decision to step out on her own, opening Roseann's Hair Studio in Phoenixville, PA. Her salon opened with five additional stylists and grew rapidly to 10 within the first few years. Proudly, two of these stylists are Ms. Hawley’s children, Chuck and Dani. Dani also has been certified by Redken, where she also holds a position as a Redken Artist. With the guidance of the Summit Salon Business Center, Roseann's Hair Studio quickly outgrew its first location. In 2012, the business moved to a larger site and became a “Redken Elite” salon, assuring continued growth and education for the employees and their guests.

When Roseann’s Hair Studio became a Summit Salon, the next training program was held at The Salon Professional Academy’s Tampa location (which was the first time that Ms. Hawley had ever stepped foot in an academy of The Salon Professional Academy franchise). She distinctly remembers saying to her husband, "Why don't we have a school like this in our area?” In her mind The Salon Professional Academy addressed a critical need. Specifically, Roseann’s Hair Studio started their Associate Program because it became obvious that new hires coming out of the beauty schools in their area had to be retrained (a problem that continues to this day). Ms. Hawley is thrilled to bring The Salon Professional Academy to her area – both for her salon and for others in the area who will benefit from her well trained and highly qualified graduates.

    Jennifer Killeen - Co-Owner

Jennifer Killeen has a Bachelor of Science degree in design and business and has owned a number of companies over the past twenty-five years. After working as a bank manager and executive director for a local chamber of commerce, Ms. Killeen joined her husband’s construction company, Cornerstone Group, Inc., as vice-president and treasurer. In addition, Ms. Killeen has served as Phoenixville’s elected real estate tax collector for the past nineteen years, runs a bookkeeping company that focuses on not-for-profit businesses for the last eight years, and manages a number of rental properties that she and her husband own in the area. Ms. Killeen enjoys the challenge of starting new businesses and running successful companies that provide excellent customer service.

Ms. Hawley and Ms. Killeen met in 2011 and immediately realized they had very similar personal and business values, including a strong work ethic. They began meeting to discuss business issues and brainstorm solutions for their respective companies. As Ms. Hawley became more interested in opening a TSPA in her area, she invited Ms. Killeen to join her. The natural partnership led to the formation of the Ultimate Education Group, LLC.
Both Ms. Hawley and Ms. Killeen firmly believe in education, whether it relates to the technical aspects of the cosmetology industry or education for personal growth such as learning how to manage money to buy a car, buy a house, raise a family or just get out of debt. They are excited that their TSPA will allow them to share their love of education with young people in their area and give them the opportunity to have financially and personally rewarding careers.

    Jessica Mecca - Esthetic/Cosmetology Educator

Why I chose The Salon Professional Academy
The Salon Professional Academy is recognized by Redken for excellence in education and has a strong relationship with Dermalogica. Having an opportunity to work in an environment and continue my education with two of the industry’s leading brands…. the choice was easy!

Why I love the Beauty Industry
I love the beauty industry because it is always evolving. It teaches you to adapt to any environment. I believe this to be an attribute that helps me grow both professionally and personally. Every day is different. Fashion and trends are ever changing and I have a true passion for people and providing exceptional customer service. The reward for me lies within being able to create a unique, relaxing experience for all of my guests.

The best part of my day
The best part of my day is seeing a student have an “Ah ha!” moment. Knowing that I have made an impact fuels me to continue to learn and grow as a facilitator. I’ve been fortunate enough to have some amazing mentors during this adventure…. It’s now my opportunity to pay it forward!

    Harold Sullivan - Cosmetology Educator

Why I choose The Salon Professional Academy
I believe the Salon Professional Academy and I chose each other over the bond of Van Der Walls. Through my career I wanted to be a part of a team that had a culture built on support, passion and people who get it. This is why I am here. This incredible team of women have established a strong curriculum, the meilleur(e) of an education team, tools from Redken 5th Ave, NYX Cosmetics and Dermalogica. A student once taught me “If you are going to be a bear… be a grizzly”, if you are going to do something… lead by example. That is what we are doing.

Why I love being a cosmetology educator and love our beauty industry
Our industry is built on the foundation of education because every day it evolves and with that there is always something new to take from the day. I am just that guy who wants to teach it to whoever wants to listen. I love being a part of an industry where it is built on a collaboration of creative minds coming together putting straight shapes on a round surface or mastering that perfect shade of ice blonde… if you smiled you know why we love this.

The best part of my career along with the best part of my day could be…
The best part of my career is to continue to pay it forward as the educator did before me. I was privileged to have been mentored within the industry from an early age which taught me to always be humble, be open and be coachable. It’s important to learn the principles of being a professional before the skill. That’s why the best part of my day is when a great Motown song comes on… dance party!

Sarah Mininger - Cosmetology/Nail Technology Educator

Why I chose The Salon Professional Academy
I chose The Salon Professional Academy because they offer the best quality education for future professionals. The continuing education available to the Educators allows us to provide the most relevant techniques and trends of the trade. All this while using top quality products behind the chair!

Why I love to be a cosmetology Educator
I love working in the beauty industry because I love making people see themselves on the outside the way they feel on the inside. To be able to capture and create a cut, color or style that embodies their personality and expression!

The best part of my day
The best part of the day is when I get the opportunity to come alongside a student and help them overcome an obstacle or solve a problem. There is nothing more rewarding then being a part of a discovery or solution to a challenge!

    Faith Speller - Esthetic/Cosmetology Educator

Why I chose The Salon Professional Academy
I had good , no not just good "GREAT" vibes from the moment I googled the Academy. That great feeling followed me as I had my interview and first day. I can just tell that this Academy really cares for its students and educators alike.

Why I love the Beauty Industry
I love this industry simply for the fact that you're never done learning and growing! There are new tools, new trends and new products coming out constantly so there is never a time where you can not be doing new things. Put simply it's not boring! Each day is a chance for a new skill to be learned or a new tool to be tested. I love it!

The favorite part of my day
My absolute favorite part about being an educator is seeing students grow from "new student" to "graduate". I love seeing them conquer hard skills, ace their tests and I cherish each moment that the "light bulb" clicks and they go from not understand something to totally grasping a new skill or concept!

    Joanna MacDonald - Cosmetology Educator

Why I chose The Salon Professional Academy:
I started my cosmology teaching career in 2008. Since then I have worked with many different teachers and schools, learning and developing my core values as a teacher. The Salon Professional Academy shares those same values, including quality of work over quantity, a cooperative and interconnected staff that ensures all students are receiving the same quality education, and a commitment to professionalism.

Why I love the beauty industry:
I love the creativity available in the beauty industry. A solid theoretical and practical foundation is essential to allow for a creative idea in your head to become a unique design on someone’s hair, skin or nails. I also love how styles are always changing, allowing us more opportunities to learn new things. I never want to work in job where I “know it all”. Instead, I want to be somewhere that I always have an opportunity to continue learning new things, not just for myself but for my clients and students.

The favorite part of my job or the best part of my day:
One of my favorite parts of my job is pretty simple, I love what I do!!! Being a teacher is great in so many ways. Watching a student’s face light up when they achieve a task that they have been struggling with is priceless. Different students learn differently and making accommodations for everyone is extremely important to me. As my teacher always used to say “There is more than one way to get to the mall”. Sally might learn best by reading about it, where John might learn best by demonstration. Regardless of whether you start by going right or left, you can still end up at the mall.

    Danielle Turrentine - Cosmetology Educator

Why I chose The Salon Professional Academy:
I chose The Salon Professional Academy because of their structure and beliefs in the beauty industry. I love that they are dedicated to educating the future stylists by showing them how to become professionals.
Why I love the beauty industry:
I love being a cosmetology educator because I get to build the future of the beauty industry. The knowledge that I give the students will help shape their careers.
The best part of my job:
The best part of my job is the "wow" moment when a student has got it! I have accomplished my goal and taught them what they needed.

Ashley Lavin - Guest Services Coordinator

Why I chose The Salon Professional Academy:
I chose The Salon Professional Academy because I love the school environment. It is so nice to be able to help the students.

Why I love the beauty industry:
I love the beauty industry because you get to make people feel great about themselves every single day!

The best part of my day:
The best part of my day is helping the students with the front desk. Also, I love seeing all of our wonderful guests leave happy.

Over a decade ago, The Salon Professional Academy joined forces with Redken 5th Avenue NYC to develop a salon and cosmetology franchise that has changed the industry.  Redken and TSPA collaborated to redesign what a “beauty school” was from the ground up – revisiting everything from the way things were taught to how the student salon area looked and functioned.  The result was a ultra-modern training facility providing students with skills beyond what they do behind the chair; skills that prepare them for a professional, successful career.

Recognized By Redken For Excellence In Education.

With a commitment to industry-leading education, business skills that prepare students for more than passing state boards, and a desire to see our students surpass all expectations for this profession, Redken has provided The Salon Professional Academy franchise locations the exclusive designation of “Recognized by Redken for Excellence in Education.”

    • “To have a passion in life is one of the strongest emotions we can have, to experience it every day is a gift, and to earn our living doing it is the blessing only few of us discover… hairdressing for me is all of the above. If being a salon professional is your dream then realize it in the capable hands of the Educators at The Salon Professional Academy, recognized by Redken 5th Avenue NYC. It’s the place to be to learn what you need to enable you to live better and earn better. You will leave school with intense enthusiasm, continued support and a stronger passion for one of the best professions that can take you to where you want to be.”

    • “Being that the TSPA academy is a Redken recognized academy, I believe that the principles that make Redken a huge success in education are easy to recognize when you’re experiencing the academy. I'm excited to see what we will witness in our profession in the near future because I know that the principles I've learned have changed my career and life. Now, seeing our youth start with these skills is very exciting to see unfold. The quality that a TSPA academy creates is a salon professional that is more technically skilled and is more career-focused, over all a better professional ready out of school.”

Hugo UriasRedken Artist, FUEL Facilitator, Hairdresser for 20 years
    • “I have been working with the educators at TSPA for many years. The difference is in the educators. They say… ‘the bigger the party, the more people show up.’ TSPA schools attract passionate, committed professionals who love teaching others what they've learned. You can feel their commitment in everything they do and that translates to the TSPA graduate in more confidence, better skill retention, and at the end of the day - more earning power.”

Scot ShermanFormer Redken Artist, Salon Owner
    • “The combination of strong technical skills and unique business building essentials make TSPA one of the top education facilities in the country. Students are provided the opportunity to gain skill excellence from amazing instructors as well as internationally recognized guest artists from across the country. When students graduate from TSPA they are fueled with a skill set to build a solid foundation behind the chair.”

Ryan MorganRedken Artist, Redken Exchange Facilitator
    • “Exclusive training and unforgettable moments are in store for the student that attends The Salon Professional Academy. [They] offer top-notch education that will create healthy habits early on in your career behind the chair, as well as, more money in your wallet for the rest of your life. The point of difference with TSPA is this: While you are building your technical skill, you aren’t just learning to pass the State Board exams, you are learning how to build, run and grow a business.”

Jayson MorganRedken Certified Designer & Colorist, Salon Owner
    • “Beauty schools are a great way for students to learn practical cosmetology skills while simultaneously preparing themselves for a rewarding career path and there is only one that I recommend and that is The Salon Professional Academy. In today’s world of cosmetology schools there is no better school that trains a student for the salon community then TSPA. TSPA schools teach technical skills, as well as solid business skills to support any salon, as the school atmosphere is professional and conducive to the achievement of excellence by student and faculty alike based on learner-focused education. The educators at TSPA find the knowledge and guidance to prepare a cosmetology student for a long successful future in the cosmetology field. The staff and management of TSPA schools instill the student with confidence to succeed in the professional salon industry.”

Sam VillaRedken Education Artistic Director, Platform Artist
    • “I am thoroughly impressed by the well-rounded skills of the students that The Salon Professional Academy provides our industry. And as an owner, it is refreshing to hire students that are so well prepared.”

      Phil LeeRedken Educator, Salon Owner
    • “TSPA is undoubtedly the finest and most thorough academy for coaching and grooming the hairdressers of tomorrow! By not only learning your new hair skills from the industry's best, most experienced instructors, but also how to combine them with essential business strategies, you will be fully prepared for success!”

Kenny BerkRedken Artist, 35 years industry experience
    • “I believe the Salon Professional Academies are some of the finest schools available in our industry. They have an excellent education philosophy and [their] curriculum stands out; providing their students with a complete cosmetology experience and prepares them for a great career in this industry.”

Patrick ParentyPresident L’Oréal Professional Products Division, USA
    • The decision on choosing the correct academy to fast track your hairdressing career can be ominous. I think that means hard! LOL. Seriously, as the Artistic Director for Redken, President of Fuel Education and hairdresser for 47 years, I’ve traveled the world, taught and performed in 27 different countries. There is one common thing in the hairdressing industry… your “Learning to Earning” ratio. Simply put, the more you learn and the higher the quality of your learning – the more you earn.
TSPA is affiliated with education-centric companies like Redken and Fuel Education Systems that train and help to produce the finest TSPA educators with the highest standards of education in the industry – bar none. How does that affect you? The best educators produce the best students. Salon owners want graduates who are salon-area ready with minimal post-academy training.

TSPA understands your need to be grounded in the Principles of Design, Finish and Color upon entering your first salon. They help ground you in those principles and ready you for that position behind the chair; and TSPA has one of the highest rates of job placement …and after all that is the point, isn’t it

Chris BaranEducation Artistic Director - Redken
    • As an educator for Redken (and as a working hairdresser), I have trained and worked with thousands of hairdressers in salons and schools all over the nation. No matter where I am, I can always tell a "TSPA" graduate because they are consistently one step ahead of their peers - in skills, professionalism, and customer service.
