Winning with an Entrepreneurial Spirit

Every quarter YourNewSchool offers a $500 Karen K. Gorman Memorial Scholarship to a deserving TSPA student! The new year started off with a bang for Tomi when he received that award! The scholarship application says that there are some characteristics in work and life that you just can’t teach. Additionally, it says the entrepreneurial spirit grows in people who show true passion and who push themselves to achieve big goals. Unquestionably Tomi fits that description!

Tomi’s Journey

In Tomi’s essay he said that arts played a major role in his life from as far back as he could remember. Over time he found a true love for fashion and anything beauty related. Tomi went on to say that, “It was through my discovery of the art of cosmetics during high school where I truly found my passion for beauty. I practiced my artistry daily before and after school, honing my craft while expanding my knowledge through research and online tutorials.” After high school Tomi joined the team at his local Sephora as a certified Beauty Advisor. As he progressed, Tomi earned promotions to Lead Artist and Service Manager! He realized there were many opportunities in the world of beauty. Consequently, he signed up for the cosmetology program at The Salon Professional Academy!

Now Tomi’s goal is to share his love for the art of beauty with others. His ultimate goal is to give back to his community. His dream is to own a salon that is welcome to all levels of experience in beauty. He wants to see senior stylists, students and aspiring beauticians working together. Tomi ended with “I hope to use my passion and what I learn through my academic achievements and hands-on experiences to magnify everyone’s unique fingerprint in the world of beauty.”
